A sunny and warm morning brought the tour team to the Radisson Cleveland Gateway Hotel. The morning managers meeting was attended by 8 managers from the hotel including Leo Phillippi, General Manager and Jim Bokosky, VP of Operations, from the hotel’s new management company.
The excitement of working with a new management company in the past few months, fueled some strong discussion on how the team can work to decrease their problem incidence numbers. The team was eager to complete their tasks as Jim offered an incentive to those who completed their tasks and achieved their goals by the end of July!
The afternoon kicked off with an employee appreciation lunch in the courtyard. Chef Chris, put together a great picnic lunch to get everyone ready for the rally. Over 50 employees attended the rally and were very engaged. The hotel staff had created their own Yes I Can! slogan from their trainings this past weekend: “Team Gateway is the “Heart of Radisson””. The hotel team was very excited about the activity and could not wait to share with everyone in the room.
Leo shared several Yes I Can! Stories and included a “Surprise & Delight” story that was put on Trip Advisor this same day! The Yes I Can! winner was Maurice Jones - Maurice just recently was assisting a guest with retrieving their car and the battery would not start. He borrowed the parking garage’s electronic battery charger to jump start the guest’s car and was unsuccessful. He then used his own car to try to jump start the guest’s car and was still unsuccessful. Maurice did not give up he continued to work for the guest and opened the car hood and cleaned the guest’s battery cables and tightened the cables down and got the guest’s car started for them.
The entire team celebrated with a cake that was specially decorated for the event and the hotel team’s dedication to Yes I Can!
